Polymorphic microsatellite loci isolated from the great scallop, Pecten maximus (Bivalvia: Pectinidae)

چکیده
We isolated and characterized nine polymorphic microsatellite loci from the great scallop ( Pecten maximus ) as part of an attempt to better understand the population–genetic structure of this species. Levels of genetic diversity were assessed in 32 scallops collected from the coastal waters of Port Erin Bay, Isle of Man. The number of alleles ranged from two to 29 and observed and expected heterozygosities varied between 0.031 to 0.906 and 0.062 to 0.973, respectively. Two loci showed significant ( P < 0.05) heterozygote deficits, likely because of null (nonamplifying) alleles; one pair of loci was in linkage disequilibrium.

Growth anomalies in Pecten maximus from coastal waters (Bay of Brest, France): Relationship with diatom blooms
Previous studies carried out with Pecten maximus (Bivalvia: Pectinidae) juveniles in the Bay of Brest have demonstrated that diatom and, more obviously, toxic dinoflagellate blooms could have a negative effect on the daily growth rate. The aim of this study was to characterize the daily shell growth from early 1998 to late spring 1999 with a careful qualitative and quantitative description of t...

Complete Genome Sequence of Arcobacter sp. Strain LFT 1.7 Isolated from Great Scallop (Pecten maximus) Larvae
Arcobacter sp. strain LFT 1.7 was isolated from great scallop (Pecten maximus) larvae. Analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequence showed that strain LFT 1.7 formed an independent lineage in the genus Arcobacter The draft genome of LFT 1.7 was sequenced to determine the taxonomic position and ecological function of this strain.
متن کاملA new species of Pecten (Mollusca: Bivalvia: Pectinidae) from northern Western Australia
Pecten dijkstrai n. sp. is described from several localities in northern Western Australia. It represents a new, rare example of a tropical member of the genus Pecten. The new species most closely resembles P. excavatus Anton, 1838, previously reported from southern Japan to Indonesia, differing in its smaller size, greater length (antero-posterior dimension), more numerous, lower radial costae...
متن کاملDelineation of Pb contamination pathways in two Pectinidae: the variegated scallop Chlamys varia and the king scallop Pecten maximus.
Bioaccumulation of Pb was determined in Chlamys varia and Pecten maximus exposed to (210)Pb via seawater, food and sediment. Both scallops readily concentrated dissolved Pb with whole-body 7-d concentration factors of 250+/-40 and 170+/-70, respectively. In both species, more than 70% of Pb taken up from seawater was strongly retained within tissues (biological half-life>1.5 month) whereas Pb i...
